Our Neck of the Woods

Woodlum Homestead is more than 40 acres. It is a habitat for native animals, trees, grasses. We are but a guest to this piece of nature that has existed for millennia before we came along. It is part of a larger community of families, farmers and homesteaders.

   There are two local schools for K-8 grades as well as a high school. All schools have bus service at Hwy. 36.

   Southern Trinity Health Services is a 20 minute drive away. It offers emergency care, long term care and dental care as well.

   The Dinsmore Store is an all in one mercantile that carries gas, propane, hardware, groceries, gardening supplies and even a laundromat. There are several local swimming holes in the Van Duzen and Mad River.

   Bridgefest is the local summer festival that features live music, handmade goods, costumes and a UFO flying contest. It also has the best blackberry and blueberry pie around.

  The drive to highway 101 is about 40 mi.. The scenery takes you along the Van Duzen River and the Redwoods near Grizzly Creek State Park and campground. The views are breathtaking.

   It is a popular hunting area for game including deer, bear and birds including turkey.

   Woodlum Homestead is a piece of the best part of Humboldt County. It is wild and beautiful, distant yet connected. Come see how you fit.
